Since Max was more than 12 months old when he passed away, his death was not considered Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Instead, it belongs to a lesser-known category. Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), which describes the inexplicable deaths of healthy children between the ages of one and eleven.
The SUDC Program was founded in September 2001 to provide a centralized resource of information, research, support and advocacy. Since the SUDC Program is so new, few resources exist to explore possible causes and steps for prevention. Your generous contributions are still a critical component to helping us better understand and curtail this unspeakable tragedy.
